What are the trends that are going to take over in 2017? We’ve researched the best fashion blogs, magazines and analysis from the front row at London, Paris and Milan to bring you the top trends to keep an eye out for this year.
Build your wardrobe foundation with neutral tones
Stone colours and pale pinks will be popular in spring and summer. When it comes to stone, think of that soft hue between white and sandy beige, and pink should be a warm, dusty and pale rose. Stone colour suits are fantastic for the weekend, but are also a great alternative to white jeans and will add warmth to all skin types. Pink should be worn in summer suit form also (if you’re feeling brave) – but if not, don’t worry, you can incorporate the trend easily by adding a splash of colour with a pink crew neck T-shirt or a simple smart shirt.
Punk is making a comeback
British punk emerged as an inspiration for many designers during recent fashion weeks. The trend was often in your face (think braces, acid-splashed jeans and zippered trousers), however you can channel it in much more subtle ways. Embrace your inner punk with drainpipe slim trousers that are cropped above the ankle, not to mention sleeveless jumpers, which made appearances in most major shows.
Don’t be a square (or in this case, do!)
Squares will be everywhere -whether it’s windowpanes or Prince of Wales checks, be sure to embrace the pattern this year. After the pinstripe revival over the last few years, squares are now being taken to the next level, and you can jump on the trend by either clashing prints of varying sizes together for a bold look, or opt for a burst on outerwear or tailoring.
