One of the best things about summer in the Lake District is being able to pack a hamper and go for a long walk, followed by a picnic somewhere beautiful. With Autumn so very close, we’re taking advantage of the last rays of glorious sunshine!
We’re spoilt for choice when it comes to picnic spots in Kendal, with a number of lovely places just around the corner from Elephant Yard. Going further afield, there are loads to choose from in South Lakes, and we think it’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon when the sun is shining.
If you want to add a touch of style and elegance to your picnic, then Laura Ashley has some fabulous picks in its spring/summer 2017 collection.
The Iona range features gorgeous grey and white floral patterns. We love the set of four cake forks (£16) – the perfect cutlery for eating a delicious afternoon tea. There are also seat pads, which could double up as a cushion to sit on for your picnic (£20). Whether you’re taking hot or cold drinks, there’s an infuser water bottle (£15) and a flask (£22) so you’re covered for liquids, whatever the weather. The gym bag (£45) could definitely double up as a picnic bag to transport your blanket and lighter items.
You can find all this, and much, much more at Elephant Yard. We’d love to know your favourite picnic spots in and around Kendal – tweet us and tell us @elephantyard.
