Mens style – Three trends we’re loving this Summer

The weather is certainly getting warmer which means a wardrobe overhaul following the cooler months of winter and spring.

For women’s fashion, embellishment has been a huge trend this spring and looks set to continue into summer. When it comes to men’s fashion, we’ve seen a number of fabulous trends we think are perfect for the summer months.

Here are our top three that have caught our eye…

Ice cream shades

From soft pink to pale blue, we knew pastels were going to be huge thanks to the popularity of them at the SS17 shows. We’ve discovered how versatile pastel shades can be and we’re loving the variety they’re adding to our wardrobe palette. Perfect Pick: pale pink sweater from Next, £26.

Hints of stone

Stone (a soft shade between white and sandy beige) was certainly the most popular colour shown by designers at SS17 shows. Similar to pastels, this colour is versatile enough that it can be worn as a suit, or as a great alternative to white jeans or a white shirt. The good news is that unlike white, which can be quite harsh, stone will warm up all skin types. Perfect Pick: longline pumps from Next, £28.

Stripes of all sizes

Vertical stripes are always a good look – they’re a menswear classic that will stand the test of time. However this summer, the key difference we’ve noticed is the varying widths of the stripes. Take the contrast between our two Perfect Picks (pictures below). While both from Next, the short-sleeved pale shirt has minimal stripes across the torso, and the stripes themselves are also very thin. The blue and white striped shirt, however, is more in-keeping with the ‘classic’ design of a stripy shirt (we also think this one would be perfect for weekends, paired with stone-coloured chinos).
