Two of our favourite social media platforms, Instagram and Pinterest, have been awash with new beauty trends lately – just in time for summer.
While we’re loving some of the trends and can’t wait to try out space buns and mismatched nail art, we’re yet to be convinced on some of the others (scented temporary tattoos anyone?!)
Here are some of our #faves…
Mismatched nail art
For those of us who struggle to get the same design of nail art right each time on every nail, then this trend will certainly be a blessing! After all, we all know how tricky it is to keep the standard high when it comes to your left or right hand, depending on which one you use.
The ‘bob’ is making a comeback
We have to blame Selena Gomez for this one. Ever since she debuted that summer chop, everyone has been going mad for the bob. After all, it’s the perfect length if you don’t want to commit to a short pixie cut, but don’t want your long hair to double-up as a scarf in the summer heat.
Space buns
If you’re not sure what they are, pop a search in Google – you’ll soon recognise the Mickey Mouse ear-esque hair buns. We’ve noticed this hair trend taking Instagram and Pinterest by storm lately.

Gym make-up
Apparently a make-up range has been created that will stay put no matter what, even in a hot and sweaty environment like the gym. We like to think that the gym is a place where you can go make-up free, guilt free. But for those of us who love to wear it any time or any place, they’ll be going mad for this in the summer when gyms are even hotter and sweatier than usual.
Temporary scented tattoos
While we can see the logic in these, we’re not totally sure how much they’re going to catch on. The idea is that most people find perfume doesn’t last, no matter how much they douse on. So, the temporary scented tattoo is like having a permanent patch of perfume stuck on your skin so that you’re always smelling like roses!
Floral eyeliner
It certainly is an Instagram dream because it’s so darn pretty, but we have a feeling that no matter how many Youtube tutorials we watch on floral eyeliner, we just don’t have the knack of drawing intricate flowers along our eyeline…
