Relaxing with a good book

There’s something comforting about curling up with a good book and letting the hours drift by as you turn through the pages immersing yourself in whatever story unfolds. We don’t always get the time to sit down for even 5 minutes, never mind get a book out, so with summer holidays calling now is the time to pull out the old favourites or visit Kendal Library to find your new summer reads.

If you haven’t visited Kendal Library for a while then now is the perfect opportunity. Apart from the usual sort of thing you would expect from a library; borrowing books, DVDs and CDs, they also organise a number of weekly and special events.

Monday 7th August – Sign-along-a story
An introduction to sign language through animal stories for kids aged 2-6 years.

Monday 21st August – Rucksack of rhymes
Three Bears and a Teddy Bear’s Picnic with songs, toys and crafts. Children aged 6 months – 4 years.

Wednesday 13th September – Ann Cleeves visit

Although the introduction of ebooks initially proved a popular alternative, the trend in the last few years has seen a steady comeback for the good old fashioned printed book. With endless sunny days to fill on your holiday there is no better way to spend your free time than with a good book and turning off from the world for a bit.
