Just this week, local talent Al Strong and his handcrafted Macarons have opened shop in Elephant Yard. We are delighted that Al is now able to offer his delicious melt-in-the mouth treats on a permanent basis.
Al has come a long way since starting out, a former Kendal college student and Lake District Hotel Chef, he has been providing handmade macarons from local markets stalls for the last 5 years. Due to the irresistible delicious-ness of his sweet treats, Al’s loyal fan base and customer orders have grown from strength to strength, offering special gifts, and supplying weddings and corporate events.
‘I am so excited to be opening my very first shop here in Kendal, I have waited a long time for this day and it has finally arrived. We have installed a commercial open kitchen which means I can make and bake while serving customers over the counter. I am delighted to share my passion, and once settled in, I look forward to offering even more tasty products.’

These seasonally designed droplets of culinary magic are all handmade with a menu to cater for everyone’s sweet tooth. At the launch night on Monday Al showed guests around the newly fitted modern, trendy shop and offered a variety of delicious macarons to try including flavours of rosewater, vanilla, mint, violet, chocolate orange, lemon and many more.
Come down and visit the shop! There are two tables, and a lovely selection of drinks if you fancy taking a seat. Plus you can see the craftsmanship in action, and perhaps indulge in a sweet treat of two!
