The Costa Coffee Story

Each and every one of our authentic Costa coffees is made to the same high standards, using skilled baristas, custom-built coffee machines and our own secret blend of beans.

The story began back in 1971, when Costa coffee was poured on our shores for the first time at 9 Newport Street, London, by our founders, Sergio and Bruno Costa. Mocha Italia is the name they gave to their own special blend of beans – a unique combination of sweetness, bitterness and body needed to make the best coffee.

As for the blend itself, that’s a closely guarded secret. But you can enjoy a cup of its distinctive flavour and a warm Costa welcome every day of the week at Elephant Yard in Kendal.
